In my small way, I have always strived to contribute to conserving the natural world, and the oceans in particular, both as a scientist and a concerned citizen.

Amongst frequent failures and setbacks, sometime results were obtained in specific efforts at the local, national, regional, and global scales (see below). In most cases, these efforts are described in detail in my scientific works, which are the main currency in the profession of science.

Joining these modest achievements with those of countless other women and men of goodwill, will the change we want eventually happen?

Today, I am not as sure about it as I was time ago. But plough forward we must.

We have no other choice.
